I just talked to a friend of mine, who can be considered a reliable source.

All I can say, all I know, is that, yes, something is moving from the VH camp.

To me, this is good news. I don’t know when, but something is moving.

NO rush. Just wait, and see.

May be this could be a possibility & is why old demos were taken down from YouTube..

From James in New York @ Links..

How about covers of their own music.

The B’s Of Van Halen

That technically wouldn’t be “new music” :

Eddie: It was actually Wolf’s idea for the album to be a collection of our B-sides along with three reworked songs, which would be new to our audience. Instead of the “Best Of” it would be the “B’s Of”—you know, songs like “Drop Dead Legs,” “Girl Gone Bad”… It would be a record of our more hardcore songs and none of the pop stuff. That was the initial plan for this album, but the deeper we dug, the more we found. At the same time I was writing new songs. Dave got very excited about that. We all did. We ended up recording demos for 35 songs. All of those songs were ready to go, and we were able to play them all.

That’s a very interesting concept and I forgot all about that quote until you posted it, thanks! There’s definitely smoke, I can wait.

Resident dickhead. I will hurt your delicate feelings.

Interesting from Janie in 2011 while VH were working on ADKOT…

Found this on Eddie Trunk linked from Blabbermouth
Eddie Trunk
Eddie Van Halen’s wife and spokesperson Janie Van Halen has denied reports that that the band is putting the finishing touches on a new studio album. Speaking exclusively to RollingStone.com, she said, “What is going around is exactly that, rumors. I don’t have any updates at this time.”
A “source” told the MelodicRock.com web site late last month that a new Van Halen single is due at the end of the year. The report also claimed that the new album, the band’s first with singer Dave Lee Roth since “1984,” was nearly halfway complete and that it would be released in the first half of 2011.
MelodicRock.com added that “the relationship between Eddie and Dave remains as complex as ever, but there is a definite desire to get a new record completed.”
Van Halen reunited with Roth in 2007 for a year-long world tour that grossed more than $90 million.
In addition to Roth and guitarist Eddie Van Halen, the current lineup features drummer Alex Van Halen and Eddie’s son Wolfgang on bass.
Eddie Van Halen revealed to RollingStone.com last year that he had to undergo surgery for a cyst, bone spur and twisted tendon in his left hand, although he expected to make a full recovery.
Carlos Santana will reportedly cover the VAN HALEN classic “Dance The Night Away” on his upcoming collection of classic rock covers, which will feature guest vocals from Chris Cornell, Scott Weiland, Chris Daughtry and others. There’s no word yet on who will sing the Van Halen song.

No that was from the year 2010.

Janie issued her comment basically saying that she had no comment.

Melodicrock is full of shit and has been for a very long time. They print whatever rumour pops up. Some of them just happen to be true. They got lucky with those ones. I wouldn’t believe a single thing they say. Even Scotty Ross had to shoot down Melodicrocks rumours back in 2000.

It wouldn’t surprise me in the least if Melodicrocks so called source was that Ben Italiano guy. He’s on that Van Halen Nation FB page. He was known to be involved on the 2004 tour but then last year was suspected of being the one behind Wolfgangs fake Facebook page last year or so.

Ok I thought it was 2011..
The VH camp would still deny anything is happening..
Andrew was correct on the Sam & Dave Tour before it happened and also the 2004 Tour when Sammy was back..

I am starting to think now they are reworking some old songs like Ed said in the 2012 Guitar World interview..The B’s of…

I speculate and hope it’s a boxset or retrospective dvd with old video footage and a cd with some of the old demos and hopefully a nice booklet.

Remember in 2007 they were going to put out another Greatest Hits and Dave was said to be working on the booklet which was stated to supposedly include many never before seen pics including some of the 1979 outtakes taken by Helmut Newton.

If the VHND is telling the truth then clearly Melodicrock is not. Patience is a virtue we’ll just have to wait and see. :)

Yes Andrew got the release dates wrong but…..

What Melodicrock got right:

1. MR was the first to leak the correct track list for ADKOT.

What MR got semi-right:

1. MR first mentioned Ross Hogarth as the producer. He was right about Ross, but he was the engineer, not the producer.

This is from a 2012 Guitar World interview where Ed was talking about what led up to the recording of ADKOT.

VAN HALEN – No New Album, But You Can Have…

6
Submitted by Andrew on 21 November, 2014 – 12:04

Friday, November 21, 2014

VAN HALEN has been keeping a “secret’ project under wraps all year, with fans left to speculate just what that might be.

A couple of weeks back I heard that mixing of this project was well underway in a LA studio with a big name mix specialist. I automatically assumed it was a new studio album or tracks left over from the A Different Kind Of Truth sessions finally coming to fruition.

But sadly it is not.

Here’s a couple of points I heard back following that report, from my two best, long time sources.

- “There are no plans whatsoever to record a new album.”

And

- “There is no indication that DLR has even been in real contact with the brothers let alone done any recording on “new” songs.”

So just what exactly has Eddie & Alex Van Halen been working on?
Work that I’m told will wrap up this week.

Folks… without any confirmation from the band or anyone official (they never talk…), to the best of my knowledge, it looks like the secret project is an archival Live DVD.

Signs are pointing towards it being a 2008 Madison Square Gardens show that was filmed on the night.

Stay tuned…

Which is pretty much what was said to be expected several months back before everyone started flipping out and assuming it was going to be a new album and tour. The MSG show was brought up before, but someone shot that down. So many rumor sources, I forget who said what. I have thought it would be a video project which would possibly include live footage from one of the tours and either interview clips or some older footage, but I assumed any older footage released would have to have Mike removed, so I didn’t think that would be included. Eddie did mention some old footage of him in a piano contest or something in an interview, so maybe it’s going to be home movies of Ed and Al? If it’s wrapped up, we should hear something within the next few weeks. I always assumed they would get the project done and in stores for the holiday shopping season, but they always seem to wait for Valentine’s Day or St. Patrick’s Day instead. ;)

LIVE VAN HALEN DVD COMING!:

Good news folks – the David Lee Roth fronted Van Halen 2008 tour will be captured and released on DVD! One reader Eric, who just returned from the latest show sent me this message: “At tonight’s show in NJ, Dave told the audience that it was the first night to be shot for a live DVD release.. I was very impressed by Eddie tonight.. he looked and sounded like the Ed from 1995.. Dave was, well, Dave… Wolfe did a good job, but Mike was badly missed, and Alex held the whole thing together…”
Sounds good to me!
