ron (11779) | A buddy of mine was looking at a new BluRay burner, and I looked at the specs and saw something I hadn’t heard of. M-Disc. After looking into it, it looks like a new disc technology that claims it’s more permanent than traditional recorded discs. Anyone have any experience with it? ronQuote |

ron (11779) | Someone did some testing with the discs: http://www.zdnet.com/torture-testing-the-1000-year-dvd-7000023203/ ronQuote |

sickman (2380) | Sounds like a great technology. It looks like $3.00 per disc which doesn’t seem too bad. sickmanQuote |

JasonA (1118) | Interesting, I hadn’t heard of it. But what if I want to burn/engrave in stone something larger than 4.7 GB? Are dual-layer stone discs next? I just know as soon as I invest in HD-DVD M-DISCS, they’ll become obsolete with arrival of blue stone discs. Do they make M-DISC RWs, so I can test before I make a $3 stone coaster? People doing B&P trades with these will be spending a fortune on postage! Sorry, I’m being facetious, but the whole idea of a stone DVD just strikes me as a little bit ridiculous! JasonAQuote |
