Mink: That’s a bummer! I have a soft spot for the 1988 Monsters of Rock tour.

I just realized that 13 of the 23 stadiums from the MoR tour have been closed or demolished:

Miami, FL – Orange Bowl
Tampa, FL – Tampa Stadium
Philadelphia, PA – John F. Kennedy Stadium
Foxboro, MA – Sullivan Stadium
Pittsburgh, PA – Three Rivers Stadium
Pontiac, MI – Pontiac Silverdome
Akron, OH – Rubber Bowl
East Rutherford, NJ – Giants Stadium
Indianapolis, IN – Hoosier Dome
Minneapolis, MN – Metrodome
San Francisco, CA – Candlestick Park
Seattle, WA – Kingdome
Denver, CO – Mile High Stadium

Saw VH 4 times at the Palace & 4 times @ JLA..

The Palace was one of the top arenas in the US for many years.

After it opened, there weren’t as many shows in Detroit.

When you turn on your stereo, does it return the favor?

DLR (solo) August 14 1988 was the second event ever held at the Palace, the day after it first opened. The first night Sting played there.

Wow, it seems that 32 years was not much for a multi-purpose arena.
