Audio is up on Dime and a couple of different sources recorded the whole (or nearly whole) show on Youtube.

I could try my hand at this but if someone else is already on it, don’t want to duplicate the effort.

SORRY–should have specified I’m talking about Montreal from this 2012 tour. I think it was 3/15.

There are (at least) two versions being worked on…but should you decide to work your magic (again)…I don’t think anyone would complain ;)

A friend of mine sent me a copy of a Montreal 03/15/2012 dvd today. It has the words Freemake.com on the bottom right corner, motion menu’s 4 in all. No dredits given to anyone. The footage is pretty nice filmed from Eddies side lower bowl probably 1-2 sections from the stage.

Sickman,

Your dvd sounds like someone took digitalvanhalen’s youtube clips and ran them through freemake video converter to create a dvd, but I may be wrong. Does your dvd include the drum solo?

You might as well just download the YouTube clips with RealPlayer…..if your DVD hasn’t been altered from the clips on YouTube.

YouTube is really changing the bootleg game. The quality of video from some of these shows is spectacular. Match them up with a good audio recording, and this has become a game changer. Think of how many angles you could get from YouTube footage.

Oh….and for the purists…..sorry to offend, but if it looks good….it’s good.

If you’re looking to author a nice DVD – 98% of what’s on youtube is not up to standard. Every now and then a person who understands exposure and actually is able hold the camera steady shoots some nice video and uploads it. But getting an entire show in HD in decent quality is very rare.

And this still holds true for 2012 Van Halen shows – where they allow people to shoot video.

Just out of interest what size screen do you watch your vids on?

Do you mean computer monitor screen or YouTube 1080p full screen mode?

I am not saying that everything on YouTube is great or even good…..most of it still sucks. But there have been some real gems from very close to the stage….bordering on pro-shot quality.
