Just heard Gary passed away. I met him on several occasions, he was always friendly and seemed like a good guy. He had his own sound and wrote some great songs. Sad, very sad.

Rest In Peace, Gary, Rest In Peace

RIP

Oh man … one of favorite guitarists ever. Saw him from the front row one time in 1978 and was blown away.

According to an article I just read:
According to UltimateClassicRock.com, Richrath released one solo album, in 1992, Only the Strong Survive, but reunited briefly with the band in 2013 when they staged a benefit concert for residents of central Illinois displaced by a series of powerful storms in the area.
I wonder if that was filmed? Would love to see it.

There might be video on youtube. I know there is audio from the show. I had it, but it is on an external hard drive that took a shit. So, I can’t access it anymore. Maybe it’s still at dime.

Never cared much for REO after Gary left.

Gotta love the Flying Turkey Trot.

I haven’t seen any pictures or video of Gary for probably the last 20 years or so and I hate to speak poorly of the deceased … but damn he looked like hell in the above video and also in this video from 2014. It looks like his neck was an extension of his chin. Gosh damn … he sure went down hill physically in his later years.

I agree Randy, I’m wondering if he had some sort of illness ?

Gary had a number of issues, which is sad. I won’t go much into it but he had a number of issues and demons. My heart goes out to his family and loved ones.
