ron (11779) | http://www.booktrade.info/index.php/showarticle/49999 Press Release: Deals Done Faber & Faber has acquired a biography of Eddie Van Halen, Eruption, by Paul Brannigan, author of the Sunday Times bestselling biography of Dave Grohl, This is a Call, and co-author of the forthcoming two-volume biography of Metallica, Birth School Metallica Death. Scheduled for publication in 2015, the book promises to explore how it was the incendiary playing of the young guitarist which launched the band Van Halen into the consciousness of America in early 1978, and transformed the musical landscape. Offering the first real examination of a true musical icon, it will also turn up the volume on a life lived in popular music’s fast lane. Angus Cargill, Senior Editor, bought UK + Commonwealth rights, plus Canada, from Matthew Hamilton at Aitken Alexander. Eruption will be published by Da Capo in the U.S. For further information, please contact Anna Pallai, Publicity Director Non-Fiction, on 020 7927 3884 or at annap@faber.co.uk ronQuote |

PT5150 (6290) | Not official? EDDIE’S fingers aren’t fingers they are muscle-powered pistons that hammer guitar strings to the fretboard with the force of a rivet gun”. PT5150Quote |

VOODOO (2375) | I’d rather see more of the interview videos that the band was posting to their official site during the build up and kick off of the new CD and tour. The last one said to be continued, so I have been hoping for more of those to come. VOODOOQuote |

ron (11779) | http://www.dacapopress.com/book/us/hardcover/eruption/9780306823428 Eruption Since their debut in 1978, Van Halen has set a high bar for the rock ‘n’ roll lifestyle of good times and debauchery. It created an entirely new style of post-’60s hard rock and, unlike bands with a similar sound, managed to gain cross-gender appeal. There is an undercurrent of tragedy to the band’s saga, however. Although Eddie Van Halen is a rock god, he is by all accounts hypersensitive and emotionally insecure. Living in the spotlight, his struggles have played out in public, from a battle with cancer that left him without one-third of his tongue to the break-up of his longtime marriage to Valerie Bertinelli. With insights from Van Halen himself, Eruption reaches beyond the boundaries of a conventional rock biography to explore the cultural, political, and social contexts that shaped an icon while turning up the volume on a life lived in the fast lane. sbnitro (505) | I would love to see EVH do a book like Keith Richards did,but I would bet the Oakland 81 show would be released on blu-ray before that would ever happen! sbnitroQuote |

VAiN (2777) | Hmmm… if this book is brutally honest it might be worth glancing over it in the store.. otherwise I really don’t see any value in it for people like us. Resident dickhead. I will hurt your delicate feelings. VAiNQuote |

Halenberg (406) | Yeah….I’d be shocked if he actually was granted an exclusive interview with Eddie specifically for this book. Most likely that statement in the description , ” Insight from Van Halen himself ” , refers to previous interviews that we already know about. Otherwise they’d most certainly make a much stronger point in emphasising it, thus making it an ” Authorized ” biography. It’s actually quite misleading unless he did in fact interview Eddie. Downright deceitful. We’ll have to wait and see. HalenbergQuote |
