wjamflan: Thanks Pete. Ed’s guitar parts are fine with me. Where did you hear the Sammy coming back rumor/talk?

Just talk from VHlinks.

Wishful thinking talk or talk from someone in the know?

It is VHlinks. Pure speculation from Sammy era fans with nothing better to do.

wjamflan: 8-O Did I miss something? Where and when has this talk happened?People want to hear Get Up?

Yeah, why not? A lot of us here don’t just like 1 version of this band.

I understand. It’s a matter of taste and opinion etc. Sorry if I ruffled your feathers. It wasn’t intentional. I just hadn’t heard “the rumor”. But then I don’t venture out as much as some.

I can understand why fans of Van Hagar would want to hear those songs again. But is it a stretch to say that, even for them, Get Up is a deep track? It’s hard for this listener to get beyond those lyrics, no matter how skillfully you believe they were sung. My .02.

PS – take another look:

“Get Up”

[Chorus 1:]
Feel like throwing in the towel don’t be a fool
They’re out to knock you out, put you down
For the count
Watch the left, watch the right, below
The belt
They’ll run you round and round it’s plain to see
It’s never gonna stop they’ll run ya till you drop
There ain’t no power around can keep a good man down

[Chorus 2:]
There’s still some fight in me
That’s how it’ll always be
Hold your head up high, look ‘em in the eye, never say die
Get up and make it work
You say that love has got you down well that’s bull
If love has got you down then love can pick you right back up
There ain’t no power around can keep a good man down
Walking down a dead end street
No mercy at your feet
They’re holding all the cards, making things so hard, before it goes too far
Get up and make it work
Get up and make it work

[Chorus 1]

[Chorus 2]

Get up and make it work
Get up and make it work
Get up and make it work
Get up and make it work

I don’t think those lyrics are bad, but I like the song. If the songs are released without vocals it won’t matter what the lyrics are really.

Yep to me it’s THE MUSIC…….

I couldn’t care who is singing or what lyrics are sung……

There is too many cool songs (MUSIC) from the Hagar era to not hear again live would be a shame…..Especially after the disaster that was the 2004 Tour..

I’d be happy to hear Summer Nights, Me Wise Magic again…. even with Dave singing (never happen) or just the instrumental.

you cant deny even if a hard core Roth fan that the Hagar era had some kick ass, thump music. I mean comon,,,

5150
Summer Nights
Good Enough
Seventh Seal
Amsterdam
Judgement Day
Poundcake
Dream is Over
AFU
Dont Tell Me

the list goes on and on….. it would be nice to hear Ed ripp some of them up again too. I dont really want to hear Sam singing them but would love to see Ed playing them.

as far as I’ve heard….its not Sam. The Sam bridge was seriously burned long ago….I would be shocked if I heard otherwise.

in addition to Dino’s video with his Steinberger….. here is me with my Steinberger GL2T Trans Trem a few years back. Sorry for the awful sound but you get the idea…. fun little toy.
