Looking for a solo I heard on youtube about a year ago it was Ed’s solo from club days and towards the end he had this type of Alien effect noise happening..Different to what he did on Blanace MTV concert solo.
Any else heard it?
Thanks..

I think I know the club show you’re on about, is it the june 30 ’76 show on the Shotgun Wedding disc?.

I think the sound was done with the Univox (originally I thought Echoplex?) but if you listen to this guy demo his I think Ed just freaks out with it.

That’s the Univox EC80A echo chamber. Ed had two, one as back up in the bomb. I think Ed had just got this in his rig round 76 as he use’s this on nearly all his solo’s around this time and guitarist can over-use their new toys when they get them :-D For me it can get a bit annoying after a bit though.

When you listen to all the early Ed solo’s (and a lot of the cover tunes) you hear all his trade mark licks, some of them don’t even fit or to coin my old mates expression, sound a bit ‘osk’ within the song. The Ice cream riff is a classic one, it sort of makes me wonder (without everyone jumping on me here LOL) that he picked up the guitar when he was a kid, played a selection of riffs that pleased him and cut up and applied them in different songs over the years, sort of like individually typing letters to make words of a sentence Ed would drop already made up words together to get a sentence at the end, I’m even confusing myself now …I’ll shut up

Is everyone else seeing the above YT vid with a still of Ed with the bog roll!!! that’s a classic. “Cornholyole… needs teepee for his bumholyole”
Sorry works boring today

Love Eds tone and raw feeling back then but also love his playing now..
