I had not seen Van Halen since 1981 so I figured I was past due. Plus I am a big fan of Kenny Wayne Shepherd so I knew I would be happy with that part of the show for sure. Enough has been said about DLR vocals so I don’t need to rehash here except to say they were somewhat buried in the mix.

I actually really enjoyed the show more than I anticipated. Eddie’s playing was right on target all night. I was happy how the show came out as a pretty accurate reflection of how I heard things. There was an occasional breeze that blew through and even though I had the windscreens on you can hear that rumble during the quite part of Ice Cream Man. Not so much during any other part of the recording.
